Krakow summer school

The most prestigious summer school in Poland opens this weekend in Krakow. The school – known as College for New Europe – is a collaborative effort of Krakow’s International Cultural Centre and several leading educational institutions from all over the world. The 16th edition which starts this weekend will host over a hundred students from over 20 countries – including Turkey, the United States, Israel, Ethiopia and Japan. Annually, among the school’s students one can find not only regular under and post grads but also academics, journalists, translators and officers of international institutions such as UNESCO and Fulbright Commission.

During almost three weeks of lectures, seminars and workshops, the participants will be discussing the issues of multiculturalism, dialogue between different cultures and, above all, political and cultural transformations of Central and Eastern Europe.

But what makes Krakow’s initiative entirely unique and unrivalled by any other Polish summer school is the fact that all the participants are given a special certificate by the renowned New School for Social Research from New York – which has been Krakow’s Cultural Centre closest partner for years.
